Perfect Beauties
By Jennifer Cummer

Charming, delicate, unique and sparkly - these are all words that accurately describe not only her jewelry collection, but also Elsa Corsi herself.

Elsa Corsi's Swarovski crystal jewelry creations have been a success from the start. Her company, named after the designer, made a huge splash when she entered the scene back in 1999; her first collection of headbands and anklets were picked up by none other than heavy hitters like Fred Segal and Kitson in the Unites States. This momentum followed the young designer and she soon found herself in over forty stores throughout The States. By 2002 the designer had decided to refocus her collections more locally, with her couture creation at the center of it.

Every Elsa Corsi piece is handmade by the designer in her studio in Vancouver, where she spends hours selecting, setting, and soldering each piece resulting in unique and innovative beauties time and time again. "The stones tell me what to do", says the modest designer. The collection has grown over the years to include earring, necklaces, broaches, cuffs, hair clips and custom pieces, all created using the same technique as vintage jewelry. Some of her signatures designs included the always-popular chandelier earring, perfect for every occasion from day to night and the big cuff bracelets that adds a dash Hollywood glamour to every look.

Elsa Corsi sources her Swarovski crystals from all over the world; using vintage German stones, or Italian settings and always the newest or rarest colour available. After sourcing, her design process begins with thinking about the women who have and love her creations, many of which have become heirloom pieces. Here she finds a 'flow' or intuition and the collections are formed with that rhythm found, not with illustrations like so many other designers.

Over her near decade in the industry Elsa Corsi has had the pleasure of growing with her clients; having completed custom graduation jewelry for the special night and later being commissioned again to design key pieces for the wedding day of that high school graduate, all grown up. "Jewelry boxes tell a story of life", the designer explains and highlights her enjoyment of being a part of the memory for each of her clients. Her relentless work ethic has earned the designer the reputation of getting custom orders 'just right', having never (so far) needed to alter any of her choices, hitting the rhinestone creative bullseye each time. She has also created a following for her broaches, which are adored by many jewelry lovers, who receive them annually as holiday gifts.

Her jewelry is available at Jeweliette (her mother's store) located at 692 Seymour Street, and other stores seen on her website, www.elsacorsi.com. Elsa Corsi's creations should be added to every girl's Christmas wish list. Her pieces add new life to every outfit and leave the wearer feeling ready for more glamour, more grace and more sparkle.
