How do you get into modeling? Google "Model Agencies in Vancouver," and pick a choice that you have heard of before. That's how Kayanna and her mother did it. After hearing from friends and family that she should give modeling a try, Kayanna finally decided that she would go for it. They sent in her snapshots to John Casablancas and within one day had received a call. According to her agent, Carmen, "The camera loves her! Kayanna's facial features and angles just work…she is very well proportioned for her age and is still growing!" Today the three women sit together in Carmen's office as they reflect back to that time 3 months prior.

Modeling is an entirely new world for the stunning 5'7 ½", brown-haired beauty. Only 13 this December, she isn't in the know when it comes to famous models, designers or photographers but is learning quickly. Her agent assigns her homework such as buying and studying fashion magazines and practicing in high heels every day so she can rock the runway. She has a few photo shoots under her belt with some well-known photographers: Chris Haylett, Matthew Burditt, Justin Brimacombe and Vancouver Fashion eZine's very own Renat Touichev. The world of modeling is fun experience and her favorite part of it all is "Getting along with everyone during the shoots." The Sebastian Hair Show was her favorite booking so far, "Because it was fun getting my hair done up."

Kayanna doesn't let this new fame carry her away. She stays grounded by hanging out with her friends, dancing and singing around her house and playing Dance Dance Revolution on her Wii. School choir, playing the clarinet, and being an honor roll student leave time for little else. She manages to work everything into her busy schedule with some help from her Mom who shows up to every meeting, photo shoot and interview with her.

Plans to attend university to study science (her favorite subject) are in the distant future. For now Kayanna plans to stick with modeling. Her short-term goals are to add to her already impressive portfolio and to work on her runway walk. Traveling is also something she looks forward to and she would love to travel to all of the main fashion centers like Milan, New York, Paris and Japan. With a rather exotic taste in animals Kayanna admits that she would love to model with something from the jungle, "A snake!" she says after thinking about it. All in good time? It certainly looks that way for this young model. Keep an eye out for her. Kayanna may just be the next new face in the modeling industry.
